El Muro (The Dyke)

Compartir

The boulevard Muro, or simply the Muro (english: the Wall), surrounds the north and east part of Tuxtepec with 5 km long. The inhabitants call it a wall but in reality it is a dyke. It was created to stop floodings coming from the rise of the Papaloapan river during rainy seasons.

Here you will find restaurants and green areas that next to the Papaloapan river offer a spectacular view. Have a good time in the areas for sports and for the fun of the little ones is the recreational area “El Flamenco”.

From the Muro you can also cross the Papaloapan river by crossing the suspension bridge that connects the city with San Bartolo, a neighbourhood across the river, known for its plantain fields. Do you dare to cross this bridge?

Next to the suspension bridge is the municipal nursery garden. You can find different plants from the region.
