The Plaza Hidalgo is known as Parque la Piragua because it is located in the neighbourhood of the same name.

In the plaza there is a bronze statue of Don Miguel Hidalgo carrying a banner with the image of the Virgin Mary.

In this plaza you will find the municipal library, the municipal police station and the church of Guadalupe painted yellow.

Although the Parque la Piragua is smaller than the Plaza Juárez, here you will find a playground for children (swings, slides) and a skating area. An area with exercise machines has also been adapted.

If you like to dance and you want to see what local life is like, you should come on a Saturday night, every Saturday there are popular dances free of charge from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Popular dancing each Saturday in Plaza La Piragua.

Have a beer while you watch the people dancing or to calm the thirst after dancing. You just have to keep in mind that the sanitary service is limited. That’s why it’s better not to stop dancing so you do not stop sweating.
