Recommended season
Milder temperatures and a lower chance of rain. The most comfortable time to explore the city and head out on the Chinantla’s outdoor trails for hiking and hill climbing.
Hot season
The hottest time of year, with temperatures that can reach 44°C (111°F). Ideal if you’re after the springs and waterfalls to cool off, but bring plenty of water and sun protection. This is peak season for the region’s springs and rivers, which fill up with locals too.
Rainy season
Rains begin in late June and run through early September, with occasional tropical storms. The jungle turns a deeper green and seasonal waterfalls look spectacular, like Naranjal’s. That said, some rural roads can become harder to travel.
Average temperature range in Tuxtepec throughout the year. The climate is warm and humid year-round, so light clothing, sunscreen, and mosquito repellent are essential no matter when you visit.
