To be able to observe the Pine Forest you must enter the Sierra Norte de Oaxaca through the federal highway 175 Oaxaca-Tuxtepec. Between Km 107 and 108 you will find the communal ecotouristic company of Santiago Comaltepec “Cascada de Niebla”. In this place you can enjoy the incredible view that the company offers in its viewpoint located at more than 3,000 meters above sea level. From here you can see a sea of clouds where the peaks of the mountains look like islands and on clear days you can even see the Gulf of Mexico. It also offers hotel rooms, restaurant and guided tour services.

An unforgettable tour is through the trails of Cerro Pelón. Due to its height of more than 3,200 meters above sea level, the pines that grow here are dwarfs that measure no more than 1 meter tall. On this path there are 3 viewpoints to admire the majestic sea of clouds that are cut by the mountains.

Near the ecotouristic center there is a 50 m high waterfall. On the path to reach this waterfall you will have to pass through pine forest.

How to get there: From Tuxtepec to Oaxaca, it is 108 km, approximately 2 hours by car.
